Fish Party - The Treats!

This year we stuck with treats for the party and didn't do any actual food.

I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted to do for the cupcakes. I knew I wanted something fish like, but couldn't find anything cute enough.

Then, on our last Mommy's Time Out, we stopped by Micheals and I saw the perfect idea!

I just baked the cupcakes in plain white liners and then baked small heart shaped sugar cookies.

Then we attached the heart cookies to the cupcakes with frosting to make tails.

I wasn't convinced the icing would hold the sugar cookie, but only two fell off so I guess it worked.

p48

Then we iced them.

It took forever.

p47

They didn't turn out as cute as the one at Micheals, but they were pretty dang close!

I was so sick of icing by the time I finished the first batch that I just phoned it in for the second batch.

We also made Starfish and Fish Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing.

p44

I love Royal Icing.

p43

Then I set out little fish bowls of Goldfish Crackers.

p46

And by far the favorite treats were the Homemade Suckers!

p42

They were super cute!

We had Rainbow Sherbert with the cupcakes too.

That was it for the treats!

I was planning on keeping tabs on what everything cost so I could figure out exactly what the party cost, but since I picked stuff up all year long I couldn't.

I do know that the entire party was under $100. I think it would be possible to do this same party for around $50 if you could get the food supplies on sale.

Now I'm craving a cupcake.
