Westward

Monday morning I woke up with the feeling that it was going to be a big day.

There was something stirring in the 97 degree air.  Change, possibility, excitement.  And maybe it was the heat, but I just knew we'd be going to bed that night different than we had woken up.

I told y'all last week that we were putting our house on the market and hoping to make a big move.

Once we decided we wanted to move, we threw out a few options on where we could go and Andrew started investigating jobs.  The most promising situation was out west in Arizona.  There are Waffle Houses out here and the owner of the stores in the area we were interested in moving to were looking for a guy like Andrew.

move over Starbucks, there's a new love in my life.

While my Mom and I went on a little shopping date, Andrew went to meet with the owner.

They hit it off, which doesn't surprise me and by the end of the day, Andrew had accepted their offer.

The Popes are moving to Arizona!

my "holy cow, we are moving" face

He will be moving from the corporate side of Waffle House to the franchise side.  There will be some adjustments for him to get used to, but it is basically the same job he does now.  He will work better hours, closer to our house.  And, hello, we get to live in the desert!

I'm beyond excited about where this will take our family.

It's a huge change.  Huge! And one that I didn't even see coming a month ago.  But really, our best life moves have been the sudden ones where all the details fall into place so fast and so smoothly that we have no choice but to roll with it.

We went out to dinner with his new boss and his wife Monday night and I loved them.  I think that they will all work together really well.  The business is currently seven stores and they seem to run a tight ship while still caring about their people.  I like that kind of set up.

He will be coming out in a few weeks to start.

Luckily, he can stay at my Mom's house while they are in Minnesota since our house has to sell before we can get something in Arizona.  The kids and I will be staying back and hoping the house sells this Summer.  If it doesn't we will move to Plan B or C.  I'm trying to take this all one step at a time so I'm not putting much though into those options just yet.

Being apart will suck.

I like my family all snuggled under one roof at the end of the day.  But when I think about us a year from now, this time will be just a blink.  The kids and I have a lot of really fun stuff planned for the next couple of months.  We want to spend as much time as we can with our East Coast friends and family before we head West.

I'm hoping the time flies by.

So this Northern Girl turned Georgia Peach is headed Westward.

Life is one crazy ride.

Nicole,

I am so excited for your family. I love how God works in ways that totally surprise us.

We spent one hot summer week in Arizona with unbearable temperatures, but would love to return. There is pretty country in that state. It is also nice that you will be closer to family.
