Penguin's Are Adorable

Some days I get behind on planning our schooling and need an extra 30 minutes to get everything set up.

In the past, this half hour has lead to the full on melt down of our day.  Free time is not my kids strong suit.  So I was pretty excited to review Marshall Publishing's DVD set Lots and Lots of Penguins and Penguins In The Wild.  I thought that an educational video that was also cute and funny might just save our delayed school days.

Lucky for me, I had the perfect chance to test my theory right after our package came.  I needed to get some art supplies together so I sat them down in front of my laptop and turned on the penguins...

Ahhh, see that?!?  Quiet children!

Not only did Lots and Lots of Penguins keep Josie and Gabe giggling, even I found it super interesting.

These videos follow penguins in the wild.  It was so fun to watch them in their natural setting.

The videos are narrated but not so much that it distracts from the show.  It's just enough for the viewer to really learn while still getting to enjoy just watching the penguins.  I loved hearing all the penguin noises.

We also loved Penguins In The Wild.

This DVD had no narration or music.  Just watching the penguins.  It was great to get to see them caring for each other and their young.  Penguins are really neat animals!

We are going to do a unit on arctic animals this winter and I plan to watch these during that unit as well.

My kids are young (5 and 2) and they weren't able to sit through the entire videos at one time.  They don't ever sit for an hour straight though so that's not a reflection on the videos.  I personally really enjoyed them.

Overall, we loved these DVDs.

I know that we will use these during a few different unit studies we are going to do this year.  I also love having an option to play a DVD that they like that also is teaching them.  I plan to buy a few more on topics that Gabe will really like.

Marshall Publishing has a ton of DVD sets on all kinds of subjects from trains and planes to some really great history topics.

The DVDs also come with a link to a website that you can use to see more and learn a ton about whatever subject you have.

DVD sets are on sale right now for between $19.95 to $24.95.  This is an incredible deal for the great videos you get!

Just added the info to my preschool website. Sounds like videos that most of my class would love! Thanks!
