Goodbye Sweet Fudge Pie.

Andrew and I have decided we need to do a little sugar detox.
It all started when David and Amber came over for dinner a couple nights ago.
While I was making dinner I realized we didn't have anything for dessert.
And when you're eating italian, you've gotta have a little sweetness at the end.
So we called the Mabes and asked if they could pick something up.
Little did I know that she would whip together the most amazingly yummy fudge pie that I have ever eaten.
And then she served it hot out of the oven with ice cream!

Oh, Lord help me!

As I ate the monsterous portion that she dished out to me I thought, "they are going to have to take this with them or I am going to have a major problem."
But somehow, they left empty handed.

Not that I put up a big fight about it.

Flash forward 36 hours and I have eaten almost the entire remaining pie.

I knew I needed help when I put Josie down for her nap half an hour early just because I simply couldn't wait any longer to have more!
It's one of those desserts that you feel so guilty for eating right when you finish, but an hour later you're ready for more.
Dangerous.

So Andrew and I have decided to attempt to go one month without eating desserts in the house.
Yup, just in the house. We don't want to shock our systems!

So in honor of our attempt to go dessert free, I share with you the recipe for the pie.
But consider yourself warned, you won't want to share!

1 stick melted butter
2 eggs1
t. vanilla
1/4 C. cocoa
1/4 C. self-rising flour
1 C. sugar
1 ready to bake regular size pie shell {not deep dish}

Mix ingredients together in bowl with fork until well combined. Avoid using a mixer if possible, over beating the filling will cause the top to rise and crack after baking.
Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes.
Let sit for 10-15 or as long as you possibly can resist.

She found this over at one of our favorite blogs in the whole wide world, Darby: A Fly Flew Through My Window .

That lady rocks my world.

Enjoy!

Oooh, I must try that pie!

My husband and I have fasted from sugar for a month twice before. Not two months in a row...that may be devestating! It's tough, but it can be done! And it makes everything sweeter when you're back to eating sweets :)
