Ice Cream Cake Recipe

Amy's ice cream cake turned out so good that I just have to share the recipe.

Not that it was anything too spectacular, but it didn't stink and it was better then plain old cake.

I was originally going to just use the recipe in the Kraft book that just arrived in my mailbox. It was just an Oreo crust with ice cream spread on top.

Then we went to this guys Welcome Home party (he just finished training to work at the FAA as an Air Traffic Control Dude. Kinda scary to know the guy telling the planes where to go!) Any who, his beautiful wifey got him an ice cream cake from Bruster's with real cake in it.I ate a mongo piece and was craving more. Hence my idea to make my own.

All you need is:
A boxed cake (I used Devils Food Cake cause Amy's a little devil)
A carton of ice cream
An Oreo Crust or box of Oreos
Hot Fudge

- First prepare your boxed cake batter.
- Pretty little girl with nappy hair not necessary, but makes baking so much sweeter.- Then pour about half the batter into a baking dish. - Throw it in the oven at the temp that your trusty cake box tells you to.
- Let little girl lick the spoon, cause that's what good Mom's do.

*side note: white is not the ideal color for a two year old to wear while making a chocolate cake. - You have to watch your cake since you're not baking the entire batter. I think ours was done in about 10 minutes.
- Then throw your cake in the freezer (covered) for about an hour.
- Take the ice cream out of the freezer and let it get a bit soft.
- Scoop that delicious ice cream onto of your cooled cake.
- And smoosh and spread it around.- Put it back in the freezer for about 4 hours
- Try not to forget about it like I did.
- Take it back out and spread fudge all over it- Then top with Oreo crumbs.
- I used a pie shell cause I am not a fan of the cream filling. I know. Sad.
- Then just freeze it until you're ready to light it on fire for the Old Gal's wish.
This would have been perfect to make the day before so that I could have froze overnight.

And in retrospect, I would have done the fudge and Oreo on top of the cake and done the ice cream on top.

But I didn't and it was still delish.

I'm not so sure that we aren't sisters in another life or something. I HATE the cream filling in oreos. Scott laughs at me b/c i scrape it off with a butter knife and eat the cookie so when i'm done i have nothing but a plate full of icing :) really, come on!

ok this is probably a stupid quesiton...but I wanted to make this cake today, it just looked so good! Do you not use the extra cake batter?

I did use the extra, but not on this cake. I just baked it in another pan in case anyone didn't like the ice cream cake.
