Not only is Wizzy Gizmo the name of this company, it's also the lead character. His name is fun to say and he is crazy inventor. The company plans to expand it's products to include more books, audio dramas, and flash cards.
For this review, we were sent the audio drama titled Wizzy Gizmo: Who Created Everything. This audio drama came on a CD and is geared towards anyone who loves a good read aloud!
How We Used It:
I had never heard of Wizzy Gizmo, but the name was fun to say and that's usually enough to get my kids interested.
I popped this in my car CD player as soon as we left the post office. I was eager to switch from the kids singing CD we'd been listening to on repeat for months. Right from the opening song, my kids were silent.
Silent, people!
That's a good sign.
This CD is tells the story of a group of kids and a wacky scientist who travel back to the beginning of time to see how the World was created. Each character has a different voice which made it very easy to follow along with who was doing what. There is a narrator who keeps it going and who plays the part of reading the Bible. The story tells what was created each day. Mixed in with the story are some songs sung by characters in the story. My kids LOVED these songs. Some are silly and some are more serious, but they are all catchy and relate to the story.
My favorite part is when the characters ask questions like, "what is a firmament?" or "why did He change to say We created?" These questions are asked by the children in the story as just a normal part of the story. I love, love, love that they did it this way. The questions are great and the answers that they give are clear and easy to understand.
The entire story is about 30 minutes, followed by a few Christian songs. The story roped the kids in right away. They weren't big fans of the actual songs that follow, but asked me to start it over each and every time we were in the car. By the third day, Josie knew all the songs that are in the story. We never listened to the songs that come after the story since they demanded to start at the beginning each time. There's also a bit of a quiz worked in. It was fun to hear how fast the kids memorized the lesson.
My Opinion:
I really like this product.
It's not everyday that I find something we can all enjoy listening to in the car. I only wish the stories were longer so we could hear more! I think we will be purchasing the others as they become available. This CD has opened my eyes to how much valuable time we have in the car every week. I'm hoping to find more read aloud type CDs that we can listen to instead of just wasting that time.
