Full Swing

I'm riding high on the fumes of an awesome weekend.

We had our first real taste of Spring and it gave us all a noticeable pep in our step.

Open windows and warm sun make us Pope's feel extra social so we filled up our house every night with friends.  We ate way too much food and pushed bedtimes back by multiple hours.  Then we followed those nights up with lazy mornings and breakfast in bed.

It was the stuff dreams are made of.

I woke up Saturday morning and realized we had zero plans for the entire day.  School work was all caught up, the house was clean(ish), and that darn sun was calling our names.  So I plopped a blanket on the grass and we spent the entire day outside.  An hour of which I found myself perched in the kid's tree house until my feet fell asleep and I was sure I'd never be able to climb back down.

I've kept my song, and what I want it to sound like, in the front of my mind and it's already effecting our days in a major way.

Our house just feels more relaxed.  My rather loud demands had rubbed off on the kids and I've had to remind them more then a few times that we aren't yelling in our house anymore.  It's a process, but one I'm so thankful for.

A few of you lovelies emailed to say I was being to hard on myself.  Which I appreciate, really, I do.  But being a kind mother most of the time doesn't make up for the times I'm brutally harsh and you can't argue with conviction.  While I wasn't the worst, I wasn't my best and that just isn't good enough for me.  This refocus was needed and I like the way it feels.

I also like the way Josie mixes patterns.

I just checked the forecast and it looks like Spring might be in full swing around here.

And I've got book club tonight so my week is already looking pretty fabulous.  That sun is calling, I better answer.

Happy Monday Friends.

Sounds like a great weekend :) I am working on my attitude also. Trying to rejoice and not complain! My husband will probably appreciate this the most!

Ok. That first photo of Josie on the swing...and the one of Gabe at the outdoor table...gotta have them! I'm so happy to hear of your awareness to not raising your voice with the children. Calmness and kindness spread to those around you. Smiles too! Love you all!

I too struggle with this same thing. Especially now with three new little ones and all the new stress that brings. But I have promised myself that I am going to try to be more conscience of how I talk b/c it does affect the kids' and my attitude all day. A calm momma = a calm home :)
