Be Still My Beating Heart

A year ago my Mom and I came up with a brilliant idea to take up some of the empty visual space in our breakfast room.

Why Andrew and I added a breakfast room to our house is beyond me. Talk about useless space.

My Mom had met a guy who loved to build furniture. He had made a few things for my Mom's house so when we were trying to come up with an idea, he was our solution.
The plan was simple, have him build a custom bookshelf for the wall and then just drive it down from Minnesota to Georgia.

Simple, right?

After a few glitches and no time for anyone to drive it down, my poor, poor Step Dad got stuck with the job of wrapping and shipping this mammoth of a bookshelf.

It seriously took him three days.

But I am happy to report that the work was more then worth it!

Introducing my new and improved breakfast room!

As you can see, Josie is a huge fan!
She spent over an hour loading toys into the cabinets on the bottom.

The beadboard back is to die for.

I have never been so sad that I am not a hoarder.
Everything in our house already has a home, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what to put on the shelves!

I could stare at her all day long.

I am totally in love with it.

The new storage, the display areas, the warmth it adds to the room. All perfect!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Mom and Bill! It is gorgeous.

It looks awesome! I'm glad I stopped by to see it. David came home and I was telling him all about it. I love it!

Love it! Gorgeous work. We use our breakfast nook like crazy! We eat almost all our meals at our kitchen table and rarely use our formal dining. Probably because the formal has carpet...that would be a mess with a 2 and 1 year old.

That is awesome! It looks perfect in that space! Don't worry, given a little time there will be plenty of stuff to fill it up!

Wow, it really is great! Perfect for that room and who knew it could hold a little girl, too? : ) My son LOVES to get inside the cabinets! How can you blame them, I mean it's a door that is actually their size!
