Big Dave Turns 28

Friday night we went out with our besties to celebrate Big Dave Mabes 28th birthday. As with all the other guys birthdays, he picked Dave & Buster's.

So we sent our little Fairy packing to her Nana's for the night and loaded into the truck 7 deep!

dd

We had dinner and laughed a lot.

Just when I thought I knew everything about my friends I learn something new. Like Amber has a prison tat and Amy...

Well, Amy's will just have to stay a secret.

After Andrew decided it was a good idea to send a picture of his booty to David, we decided it was time to give up our table and go for some gaming.

Ahhh, look how happy the Birthday Boy was!

nn

Let me just say that our husbands are serious about some shooting games.

I mean, take a closer look at Andrew's face:

2009 223

Now that is a mean mug!

While the guys might be serious about war games, us girls are serious about our fruity drinks.

2009 224

And Dance, Dance, Revolution!

2009 226

I swear everytime we go out I fall more in love with my friends.

2009 232

2009 234

This guy stood at this machine from the time we got there until who knows when. He was still playing away when we left. It was actually pretty facinating to watch him.

And take a close look at the amount of tickets he has.

2009 235

That trash bag was full and the pile on the floor was his too!

David said he was playing for some autographed baseball which I found odd. Why would Dave and Buster's be holding prized autographed balls?

Well after slightly teasing him, Andrew walked by a machine and just decided to try and won the jackpot his first try!

2009 236

Now that's some Karma!

Happy Birthday David! We love you and your crazy self. Without you we wouldn't be a Waffle Family.

And there ain't nothing better then bein' a Waffle Family!

My Daily Dilema

Every morning, without fail, the following statement will come out of my mouth,

"I don't have anything to wear."

Which is simply a lie considering this is my closet:

2009 206

(yes, organized by color and sleeve length. I told you I'm insane.)

Actually, that is only part of my closet and doesn't even show the mass shoes, pants, dresses, or skirts that were shoved in there.

So I came to the conclusion that it's not that I have nothing to wear, it's that I have too much to wear.

I was feeling overwhelmed with when I last wore what and who did I see in it. The truth is, I have a few favorite outfits that I wear all the time and the rest spend 99% of the year hanging there.

So I did a mass cleansing.

2009 205

That's about half of what I am getting rid of.

I also cleaned out my cabinets.

Not sure anyone is going to want my Ovulation Prediction Kits, but Lord knows I don't need them so out they go.

I still have a lot that I should get rid of.

2009 207

For instance, my Nine West heels in the back there had so much dust on them I couldn't tell what color they were. But they were expensive and make me feel like an adult so for now they stay.

I also kept a few jackets I haven't worn in years, but I am not quite ready to give up. I had to keep taking breaks and then going back through the whole closet to make sure I got rid of as much as my mind would allow.

2009 208

It felt good to take out all the work skirts and dress pants that not only do I never wear, but probably don't even fit anymore.

I tried to get rid of some of Andrew's things, but the poor man only has about 5 shirts that aren't Waffle House related so his side was safe from my binge!

Now if only Josie would move up to at 2T I could do more closet cleaning!

public service announcement to all my friends.....

If we are out and you see my pick up a tank top in any form or fashion, you have permission to slap it out of my hands. Seriously, I have an addiction.

Fishes

a5

My friend Alicia found an awesome deal for the Georgia Aquarium that was just to good to pass up. So we loaded up the cars and headed to "The Big City" (as Luke would say!).

a6

The kids were so good and we had a blast.

I kept trying to get Josie to turn around so I could get a picture of her with the fish, but she was way to interested in the fish!

a9

The Jellys were a crowd favorite.

a13

There is just something so peaceful about watching all the fish at the Aquarium. Plus they play that Titanic music that lulls you to Nirvana.

These little guys make me laugh.

Some of us (not me) were even brave enough to do some Stingray petting!

Miss Olivia was there too!

If you want in on the deal just click this link.

GEORGIA AQUARIUM

It's called Mommy and Me, but any adult can go with kids. It's $25 for an adult and up to 4 kids and that includes parking! It's usually really pricey so this is perfect for families! You have to buy the tickets by the end of this month, but you have all year to use them.

I Made Pants!

A few weeks ago, a friend of a friend asked me to make an outfit for her adorable little girl's first birthday. She told me what she was looking for and I just happened to have a pattern for it so I thought I'd give it a shot.

e

I couldn't figure out the pattern to save my life, so after a few frustrating attempts I decided to just trace one of Josie's outfits and pray it worked out.

It did!

e4

I had never made pants before so that was a bit interesting. But now that I have, I'm addicted!

e3

The look so comfy and were seriously easy (once I quit sewing the leg holes together!).

e2

We are still deciding if we are going to add ruffles to the bottom of the pants and I have to finish up the button holes but then it will be ready for the Birthday Girl!

I'm hoping she will send pictures of her in it for me to share!

Cinderella, Cinderella

Lately I've been in a bit of a cleaning rut.

I do the piddly pick up throughout the day, but when I tried to think back to the last time I did a deep clean of any room in our house, I couldn't.

I always thought when I started staying home I'd have time to have the whole house spick and span at all times. But somehow, night comes and somedays I've barely changed out of my PJ's let alone picked up a mop.

So I've decided to come up with a system.

If you know me, you know I love three things (you know, besides my family and all that). I love a schedule. I love having everything in it's place. And I love feeling like I accomplished something at the end of the day.

I was laying in bed last night reading The Next Chapter's March book, The Help, when I was inspired to create a cleaning schedule.

I know it's nothing new and a lot of you might already do this, but to me it is perfect. When one of the main characters, a maid, started talking about Sheet Cleaning Day I knew that what I needed was a Sheet Cleaning Day.

So I made up the following schedule:
  • Monday - Clean All Bathrooms
  • Tuesday - Dust All Rooms, Vacuum Downstairs
  • Wednesday - Deep Clean Kitchen
  • Thursday - Clean Laundry Room, Vacuum Upstairs
  • Friday - Wash All Bedding
  • Saturday - Mop Hardwoods
  • Sunday - Clean The Stinky Fish Bowl

Of course I still have to laundry every other day to make sure Andrew has clean uniforms (yes, he still only has 2) and I do a light cleaning of the kitchen everyday too.

I'm sure there will be changes, like tomorrow we are going to the aquarium so I did the bathrooms today, but overall I know this is going to work for me.

I'm also planning on deep cleaning a room a month, like on my hands and knees scrubbing. We have 12 rooms in the house so it should work out.

This totally got me in the mood to Spring Clean, but we will be gone pretty much the whole month of March so that will have to wait until April.

So how about you? Do you need a schedule to actually clean?

My New Favorite

Sure I love big bows.

ccc

And you know I'm a fan of a girly dress.

cc

But my new favorite thing for Josie to wear is neither girly nor stylish.

It's a over sized t shirt and jammie pants.

ccccc

cccc

I'm pretty sure this is what I grew up wearing to bed and my heart melted into a big puddle when I put her in this for bed the other night.

It makes her look so little.

Add that to the fact that she's let me rock her to sleep the last two nights and I'm in Mommy Heaven.

.70 Cents Worth Of Fun

2009 179

On our Valentines Day Date, Josie and I spent some time at Marshall's.

I love that place.

Right when we were about to check out, I spotted this cake painting kit for .70 cents. I had every intention of storing it up in the attic with hopes that it would survive until next Christmas. But when Josie laid eyes on it she couldn't quit talking about it.

After day 3 of her waking up asking to make her trees, I gave in.

The kit came with everything you needed. The pans, the frosting, the mixes, and the edible paint.

Josie didn't mind the taste.
